Membership and Dojo Information

All Group Classes are held at the Stamford Learning Center. There are three classes per week: Mondays: 5:45pm-6:45pm, Wednesday and Friday: 6:00pm-7:00pm

Private Lessons and training sessions are also available.

New Students:

Fees and Dress: New Students are welcome to come to the dojo to observe or to join in. Membership dues are $70 per month, but new students can train for a one week trial period free of charge. Acceptable clothing for beginners are grey/blue sweatpants, grey/blue/white sweatshirts or t-shirts. A traditional Karate uniform (gi) is not required until a student reaches their first grading period.

Non-Contact: Shotokan Karate as practiced and taught at CKA is Non-Contact. Therefore, no pads, gloves, headgear, etc. are required or allowed.
Ranks: Beginners are designated "white belts". The belt system progresses from white - yellow - green - brown - black, with different grades (kyus) of lower belts and different ranks (dans) of black belt .
