Welcome to the Traditional Japanese
Shotokan School of Karate !
We are a traditional
school of Shotokan karate with a focus on strong basic training. We find that this
approach suits best adults and older teenagers. Beginners are welcome,
as are practitioners of other styles - many of our members are senior
ranks in other karate organizations and other martial arts including
aikido, judo and iaido.
The Connecticut
Karate Association LLC was established and founded in 1970 by Sensei
Fred Serricchio in Stamford, CT as the Fairfield County affiliate of the
Japan Karate Association (JKA), and under the auspices of Sensei Mori
of New York City.
Retaining its high
standard of excellence, the Connecticut Karate Association LLC has
moved from the JKA to become a founding member of the World Traditional Karate Organization
(WTKO). Furthermore it is now
affiliated with a new and exciting group of dedicated international
Shotokan organizations, offering its students opportunities to attend seminars
and tournaments world-wide. These relationships offer our students the
opportunity to compete on an international level, as well as access to
seminars and classes from world renown instructors.
